ProxiLocal Privacy Policy

Overview

ProxiLocal is a privacy-first proximity dating app. We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service. Interest matching and spark detection happen on your device via Bluetooth, not on our servers.

Data We Collect

• Account info: Email address and display name (via Google or email sign-up)
• Profile data: Bio, age, gender, interests, photos, and dating preferences you choose to provide
• Location: GPS coordinates when you use the Discover feature, stored temporarily for nearby matching. Your exact location is never shown to other users.
• Bluetooth: BLE advertisements are broadcast locally to nearby devices. These contain a hashed identifier and interest bitfield — no personal information.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Behavioral or usage analytics
• Advertising identifiers
• Contact lists or phone numbers
• Biometric data (photo verification is processed without storing biometrics)
• Browsing history or app usage patterns
• Data from other apps on your device

How We Use Your Data

• Discovery: Your location is used to find nearby users within your chosen radius
• Matching: Interest comparison happens on-device via BLE — our servers never see who you matched with
• Messaging: Messages are relayed through our server for delivery but are not used for any other purpose
• Payments: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe (web) or Apple/Google (native). We do not store payment card details.

Data Storage

Your profile data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security. Only you can edit your profile. Other users can only see your profile if you have discovery enabled.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Data is only shared with:

• Supabase: Database hosting (data processor)
• Stripe: Payment processing (web subscriptions only)
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (mobile only)
• Mapbox: Map display (receives your viewport coordinates, not your profile)

Your Rights

You can at any time:

• Access all your data via the Settings page
• Edit or delete your profile information
• Go invisible using Ghost Mode — removes you from all discovery
• Delete your account — permanently removes all your data from our servers
• Export your data — request a copy by contacting us

If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to erasure, portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children

ProxiLocal is for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification.
